In these photographs, John eliminated extraneous detail to focus on the basic design components such as texture, form, and line.  John's lifetime of photography reveals that he was fluent in multiple 20th century photographic vocabularies, including Pictorialism, Precisionism, and Minimalism.

He used his camera to record details which other people might be less inclined to observe.
